The Brain Injury Law Group

The Brain Injury Law Group was founded by Attorney Gordon S. Johnson, Jr., with the objective of assuring that their mission of education and advocacy for persons with brain injury reaches people throughout the country. They believe that the representation of those with a brain injury requires specialized background and training.

About Brain Injury

Traditionally brain injuries have been classified as mild, moderate and severe based upon the duration of loss of consciousness. More recently these classifications have been reconsidered based upon length and severity of amnesia. They find the use of the words "mild" and "moderate" to refer to brain injury absurd. Their refusal to adopt these distinctions is nothing new, with no lesser authority than the founder of medical science, Hippocrates espousing the proposition that all brain injury is significant, but not necessarily devastating.

Therefore, they find it more useful to classify brain injuries into only two categories, those which involve significant coma and those which do not. They use this distinction, not because the ultimate outcomes are necessarily different, but because the coma injury involves the vigil of life and death. While their mission to "eradicate the use of the word mild" is still not shared by all, they believe that the power of the web can connect enough advocates so that they may someday in a thousand, coordinated voices, change the peer reviewed thinking that continues to ignore Hippocrates' millennium old understanding.

The Brain Injury Information Page provides information about brain injury, concussion, coma and head injury for TBI survivors, families of survivors, and caregivers. Their goal is to provide education and assistance with the process of diagnosis and proof of brain injury, sometimes called head injury.

Their View of Advocacy: They of the Brain Injury Law Group make their living as advocates. But advocacy implies more than being a lawyer. It means dedicating oneself to the community they serve - the survivor, the family member of the survivor, the medical professional. To that end, they have created these pages to provide information, resources and links to help you learn and solve the problems you face.

Who They Represent: The actual practice of the Brain Injury Law Group is representing individuals who were injured as a result of the wrongful conduct or negligence of someone else.
