Child Safe of Central Missouri, Inc.

Child Safe of Central Missouri, Inc. (Child Safe) is a child advocacy center located in Sedalia, MO. Child Safe is committed to serving children and their families who are victims of severe physical or sexual abuse.

Child Safe serves ten central Missouri counties which include Benton, Chariton, Henry, Johnson, Lafayette, Linn, Morgan, Moniteau, Pettis and Saline.

Child Safe provides forensic interviews, sexual assault medical exams and advocacy services in response to allegations of child sexual abuse. their goal is to limit the number of interviews a child is subjected to by bringing together all disciplines involved (Children’s Division, law enforcement, Juvenile Office, etc.) in a child-friendly setting in order to minimize the trauma to the child.

Child Safe also provides education programs for children, mandated reporters and the community and makes available training for professionals.

To provide a comprehensive, culturally competent, multi-disciplinary team response to allegations of child sexual abuse in a dedicated, child-friendly setting.

Goals:

• Minimize trauma suffered by the child due to multiple contacts with different community professionals
• Provide families with referrals for needed services
• Maintain open communication and case coordination among the agencies involved in child protection efforts
• Develop and promote prevention education programs for parents and care givers
• Make available specialized training to enhance professional skills to effectively respond to child sexual and severe physical abuse
• Educate mandated reporters of their legal responsibilities under Missouri law
• Provide an educational component to enhance community awareness and understanding of child sexual and severe physical abuse.
