The New Zealand Centre for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy

The New Zealand Centre for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy officially came into existence in March 1997, though its origins go back to 1992 when the first REBT training programme was held in New Zealand (and every year since then), using trainers from the Australian Institute for Rational-Emotive Behaviour Therapy. The Centre has since been expanded to incorporate the Centre for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. The Centre's aims are as follows:

  • To promote Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as a safe, effective, and efficient method of psychotherapy and personal effectiveness.
  • To provide training courses in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for helping professionals.
  • To present workshops for the public.
  • To develop a literature on the use of CBT relevant to the New Zealand setting.
